Driver emergency button

The driver emergency button is a product feature that lets drivers trigger an emergency workflow from ioki Vehicle App.

When the feature is active, ioki Vehicle App shows an emergency button. In an emergency, the driver can press the button, which starts the following actions:

  1. ioki Vehicle App calls the driver emergency phone number so the driver can get immediate help. To avoid accidental calls, the driver can cancel the emergency call within a short time span by closing a modal. This is handled by ioki Vehicle App.

  2. If the driver is connected to an active vehicle planning, ioki Vehicle App creates a deactivation. Upcoming rides are shifted, and the vehicle cannot be booked.

  3. A driver emergency is posted in Control Center. Open emergencies create a warning on the Control Center dashboard, and all driver emergencies are listed in the top-level index Driver Emergencies for each product.

By design, if no phone number is configured, no call is started. The Control Center emergency warning still works.

Scope and limitations

  • The Vehicle and Task List attributes are optional. It is possible to create an emergency without a current vehicle planning.
  • If no driver emergency phone number is configured, ioki Platform still creates the emergency and shows Control Center warnings, but ioki Vehicle App does not start a call.

Configure this feature

The Driver Emergency Phone Number can be specified in the stemdata for every product.

When a driver pushes the emergency button, this is the number called for help. This is not an official emergency number like 911, 112, or 110.

The admin procedure for this feature is documented in Driver emergencies in ioki Operator or Driver emergency button in Control Center.
