Active vehicle plannings

Every vehicle planning carries information on its active state. This has mainly two effects:

  1. ioki Platform only sends information on active vehicle plannings to ioki Vehicle App. That means drivers can only see tasks from active vehicle plannings.
  2. Active vehicle plannings can’t be deleted.

By default, a vehicle planning is activated fifteen minutes before it actually starts and stays active fifteen minutes after the official end. This gives the driver the opportunity to see all included and accepted tasks before the shift starts, and ensures that tasks don’t vanish from ioki Vehicle App if a driver is late.

Every fifteen seconds, ioki Platform checks which vehicle plannings should be active and changes their states accordingly, so the activation and deactivation times are all accurate to within about fifteen seconds.

Vehicle plannings for the same vehicle can’t overlap, but their fifteen-minute padding may. If there are two succeeding vehicle plannings — one ends exactly when the next starts — the switch happens without the fifteen-minute padding, but only if the driver of the first vehicle planning checks the End of shift task.

A vehicle planning ends at 8:00 PM and the next one starts at 8:00 PM. The old vehicle planning is deactivated and the new one is activated without the fifteen-minute padding, but only if the driver checks the end-of-shift task. If, for example, a passenger is still in the vehicle at 8:05 PM and hasn’t been dropped off yet, the driver still sees the dropoff task. Once the passenger is dropped off and the driver has checked both the dropoff task and the end-of-shift task, ioki Platform switches the new vehicle planning to active and deactivates the old one.
