External payment

If a user books an ioki ride via a Mobility as a Service (MaaS) app and the payment is handled by this app, the external payment method (external_payment) can be assigned to the corresponding ride. ioki Platform does not process or collect these payments. Instead, your integration handles the payment and reports the outcome back to ioki Platform, as described in the ride creation flow.

For rides, the external payment method is assigned during booking. It is not offered to integration client apps as a payment method for purchasing personal discounts.

Can external payment and internal payment run side by side?

Yes. An external integrator that uses external payment and an internal ioki client that uses PSP-backed payment can run in parallel for the same product.

Configure external payment

External payment can be configured in two steps.

1. Within the section Payment in the management settings of a provider, enable the option 3rd party payment handling under Accepted payment methods for rides.

2. Enable the option Allows external payment on the client. This could be, for example, a Platform API integration client app.
