Public transport alternatives

The product feature public transport alternatives (PTA) checks whether an incoming ride request can be fulfilled using public transport.

The passenger does not yet see the alternatives. Right now, the two possibilities to make this accessible for the user is to enable the features multiple booking solutions (MBS) and prohibit parallel rides. If prohibit parallel rides is activated and a sufficiently good public transport alternative is found, no on-demand ride is offered but instead the public transport connection is shown. For MBS, it depends on the settings. With MBS, it’s possible to show even more than one public transport alternative to the passenger.

PTA is a feature on its own but also serves as a foundation for other features. For prohibit parallel rides, PTA suppresses DRT rides, and for intermodal journeys, PTA is used to find the first/last mile feeder journeys. PTA also benefits multiple booking solutions, allowing passengers to select public transport options for their journeys.

Activate this feature

Roles: Super Admin

1. Navigate to the management settings of the product.
2. Within the Product features section, select the checkbox Public transport alternatives.
3. Select Save.

This feature can be configured within the section Public transport alternatives in the tenant settings of a product.
