Promo codes

Promo codes are a provider feature that allows administrators (operators) to give personal discounts or service credits to users.

Promo codes that award users with personal discounts are intended to be used in marketing materials such as posters and flyers. Users are encouraged to enter these codes in ioki Passenger App or in ioki Web Booking to receive a personal discount.

Promo codes that award users with service credits are intended to be printed on scratch cards. These cards are available for purchase at physical locations, allowing users without a digital payment method to load money onto their account for service usage. It is important to note that these codes cannot be created manually. Instead, they are generated by the backend on request and then transferred securely to a printing company.

Serial numbers are used for the codes that are printed on scratch cards. In the first batch of codes we printed for Hamburg, we generated 8 digit serial numbers. We realized, that this scope was not big enough, and we extended the serial number to 10 digits. For consistency, we have converted all old 8 digit serials to 10 digits by adding 2 zeros in the middle of the number.

So, when trying to look up a serial number like 10000180 this needs to be extended to 10 digits by adding 2 zeros in the middle: 1000000180

Activate this feature

Roles: Super Admin

  1. Navigate to the management settings of the provider.
  2. Within the Provider features section, select the checkbox Promo codes.
  3. Select Save.
