Promo codes

For what this feature does, see Promo codes in Platform. This item appears in the Control Center provider sidebar only when the promo codes provider feature is active.

Promo codes are managed at the provider level. The Personal Discounts Manager role can create, view, update, and delete promo codes for a provider, and the Personal Discounts Viewer role has read-only access. See provider-specific roles for the full permission lists.

Create a promo code

Permissions: create_promo_codes

To create a promo code, select Create new and fill in the following information.

  • Title. The name of the promo code.
  • Description. The description of the promo code.
  • URL (optional): A URL that will be shown in ioki Passenger App. For example, this could represent a link to a page explaining the promotion.
  • Code. The code that must be entered by the user to receive the discount. This is not case-sensitive—all letters are converted to uppercase automatically on save. The maximum length is 12 characters. Users can enter the code in any case in ioki Passenger App, and it will still be valid for receiving the discount.
  • Personal Discount. The Personal Discount Type that is assigned to the user when they use the Promo Code.

In addition, it’s possible to restrict the use of promo codes via Limits. This can be activated for the current code by selecting the flag Limit how many Users can redeem this Code.

Then the number of users who are granted the discount when entering the code can be restricted by

  • Maximum usages. Restricts the maximum number of usages. The default is one. Note that it should be checked whether this is covered by the maximum number of usages of the Personal Discount Type.
  • Redeemable until. Defines the time until which the code may be entered. After this time, users see an error that the code is invalid.
  • Redeemable from. Defines the time from which the code may be entered. Before this time, users see an error that the code is invalid.

Each promo code can only be used once by each user.

The Redeemable from and Redeemable until dates control only when the code may be entered. They are separate from the validity period of the personal discount the code grants. Once a user has redeemed the code, whether a specific ride is discounted depends on that discount’s validity period, which is checked against the ride’s scheduled pickup time. A prebooking made today for a future ride is discounted if the ride’s pickup falls within that period.

Redeem a promo code for a user

Besides entering a code themselves in ioki Passenger App or ioki Web Booking, users can have a code redeemed on their behalf. From the Users page in Control Center, an operator can redeem a promo code for a user, which is useful when a user books by phone. This option is available only when the promo codes provider feature is active.
