Within the section Boarding time model in the tenant settings of a product, you can configure the default boarding time model. This is used to estimate how long vehicles need at a stop for passengers to board or alight, including parking time and time for wheelchairs or walkers. This is important for the matching algorithm.
Each value is set as a duration between 0:00 and 10:00, in steps of five seconds.
The following times can be defined.
Boarding time
How long one passenger is assumed to need at the vehicle. It is used both for boarding and for alighting; there is no separate alighting time setting. The time adds up per passenger. For example, if one passenger is estimated to need twenty seconds, two passengers need forty seconds. Default: 20 seconds.
Boarding time wheelchair
The additional time for a passenger using a wheelchair. It is added to the boarding time of that passenger, both for boarding and for alighting. For example, if the boarding time is twenty seconds and this value is two minutes, the total time for that passenger is two minutes and twenty seconds. Default: 4 minutes.
Boarding time walker
The additional time for a passenger using a walker. It works in the same way as the wheelchair value. Default: 2 minutes.
Parking time
The time calculated for parking the vehicle. This is always constant. For example, if the parking time is set to forty seconds, it stays forty seconds, even if seven passengers with four wheelchairs and three walkers have to board the vehicle. This is still true if the passengers are from multiple rides and are coincidentally picked up or dropped off at the same station. For example, if two rides—with one passenger each—are picked up at the same station, the total time is one times the parking time plus two times the boarding time for the passengers. Default: 40 seconds.
Station boarding time overrides
The boarding time is a cascaded model. The product’s boarding time model serves as the default and can be overridden per station to meet particular conditions. Each of the four values can be overridden on its own: a station uses its own value where one is set, and falls back to the product default for every value it leaves unset.
