Stations

A station belongs to a product and can be either real or virtual. For the station concept—real vs virtual, catchment areas, approach, boarding time, and intermodal feeders—see Stations in Platform.

The form contains these fields.

  • External ID. Enter the External ID of the station. This is an optional product-scoped unique external identifier.
  • Station category. Select a station category from the dropdown menu.
  • Tariff codes. Assign one or more tariff codes to the station. A fare calculation adapter can read a station’s tariff codes to determine a ride’s price, and some adapters require every station to have at least one.

  • Visible on map in passenger client. Select if the station should be visible on the map in the passenger client.

Should stations be defined on each side of the street?

In general, stations should closely reflect reality. If there are two stations on either side of the road in the real world, set up two stations in Control Center, preferably with distinct names or identifiers denoting their respective sides of the road. This is especially important if the road has a constructed separation between the lanes going in opposite directions. However, if it concerns a small road with no constructed separation or where turning around is easy, it is usually sufficient to place one station in the middle of the road, as drivers and passengers can easily find each other. Note that ioki Platform is not necessarily line exact. Therefore, if possible, avoid setting up stations in “pairs” on complicated main roads where a U-turn is impossible and crossing the street is difficult. It’s more desirable to choose single curated locations with halting bays or parking lots to make the experience less stressful for drivers and passengers.

Intermodal station attributes

The following two options are shown if the product feature intermodal journeys is activated.

  • PT to DRT feeder. Select if the station should allow transfers from public transport to DRT for intermodal journeys.
  • DRT to PT feeder. Select if the station should allow transfers from DRT to public transport for intermodal journeys.

Avatar image

  • Station image. An image of the Station can be uploaded here. This image is also displayed in ioki Passenger App to help the passenger find the way to the right Pickup point. The image has to be of the type jpg, jpeg, png or gif. with a maximal size of 10MB.

  • Delete station image. If a station image exists, this option allows you to delete it.

Boarding time

  • For the specific station, you can overwrite the default boarding time model attributes of the product.
    • Boarding time
    • Boarding time wheelchair
    • Boarding time walker
    • Parking time

Catchment area

  • Catchment area. Ride requests in this area are always directed to the station, even if it’s not the nearest one. The area has to be defined in GeoJSON as a polygon or a rectangle. Catchment areas are useful if, for example, there are large areas in the service area that do not have direct road access, so requests in these areas should be directed to a station.

Custom flags

  • Custom flags. If custom flags are defined in the product settings, the flags are displayed here and can be assigned to the station by checking the corresponding boxes.
