Automated failed payment handling

In the Automated failed payment handling section of the tenant settings of a provider, you can specify one of the following parameters to prevent users from creating rides if they have either a certain number of unpaid rides or an outstanding amount above a specified threshold.
Only one of these thresholds can be defined on each provider. If neither condition is set, then ride creation is not blocked.
- Allowed number of unpaid rides. The number of unpaid rides at which ride creation starts to be blocked. A ride counts as unpaid when its payment is in the state payment failed. A user can create rides as long as their number of unpaid rides stays below this value, and is blocked as soon as the number of unpaid rides reaches it. This is the threshold at which blocking begins, not a number of unpaid rides that the user is still allowed to accumulate.
- Allowed outstanding amount. The total outstanding amount from failed payments at which ride creation starts to be blocked. It works the same way: a user can create rides as long as the summed amount of their failed payments stays below this value, and is blocked as soon as it reaches the value.
In both cases, a user is blocked once the value reaches (equals or exceeds) the configured threshold. In other words, a user can have at most one less than the configured value and still create rides.
For example, if Allowed number of unpaid rides is set to 1, then a user with no unpaid rides can still book. As soon as they have one unpaid ride, further ride creation is blocked. Setting the value to 1 does not allow one unpaid ride before blocking—the first unpaid ride already blocks the user.
Note that the user is not locked in this case.
The user can create new rides again when payments with the state payment failed fall below the defined limit. There are two ways to clear an outstanding balance. In Control Center, the corresponding payments in Failed Payments can be set manually to payment manually retrieved or payment forfeited. The passenger can also settle the balance themselves in ioki Passenger App by choosing a digital payment method, where the provider accepts one.
