Vehicle repositioning

Permissions: update_task_lists

For what this feature does, see Vehicle repositioning in Platform.

If activated, Control Center allows operators to add repositioning tasks to existing vehicle plannings.

Manual repositioning

Manual repositioning tasks can be directly defined on the vehicle planning when imported via ioki Data Bridge.

For already existing vehicle plannings, select ⚙️ > Add repositioning task in the dropdown menu. The following information has to be added:

  • Time window. The Earliest Time, Time, and Latest Time define the time window for repositioning tasks. Time represents the requested time to reach the target location, while the Earliest Time and Latest Time establish the boundaries within which the repositioning can occur.
  • Target location. The target location for repositioning is always a geographic point defined by latitude and longitude coordinates. To select these coordinates, use an address, place, or station. Alternatively, enter the geographic coordinates manually.

The address details are filled out automatically if Search address, Place, or Station is used. However, the only mandatory fields are Latitude and Longitude.

It can be selected if the repositioning task is dismissable: If activated, a repositioning task is automatically removed from the task list if a new passenger gets matched into the respective vehicle planning or when a current task is delayed. Using this option, bookings (existing or incoming) as well as a current delay in the operational process should be given priority over the repositioning task, so that the latter is not executed if necessary. Also, a dismissable repositioning task is dismissed if the Dismissal threshold of vehicle repositioning is reached. This parameter can be defined in the product setting section driver-related settings.

If Repositioning tasks can be canceled is enabled in driver-related settings, connected drivers and operators who can manage tasks can also cancel repositioning tasks manually. Canceling and dismissing are separate actions.

Because administrators cannot always see all matching constraints, adding repositioning tasks after rides have started to match into the vehicle planning is discouraged. It is possible, but it can affect existing operational plans.
