Routing sandbox

The routing sandbox is a test page where administrators can manually test how a defined routing from point A to point B would be performed, without creating a ride or working with production data.

Input test routing information

To test a routing, input the following information.

Basic adapter settings

  • Routing adapter. All embedded routing adapters can be chosen.
  • Routing profile. Car, Foot, Autonomous, Autonomous (Staging), Truck (Here), Bus (Here Beta), Private Bus (Here Beta), Taxi (Here Beta).

Product features

  • Respect restricted areas
  • Respect time scaling factor. If enabled, the routing calculation applies the product’s Time coefficient for vehicle routing.

Vehicle options

  • Avoid U-turns

Truck options

  • Avoid difficult turns
  • Height (cm)
  • Width (cm)
  • Length (cm)
  • Weight limit (kg)

Routing options

  • Departure time. Enter the departure time in ISO 8601 format with date and time without seconds (YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM). Example: 2025-12-24 13:00.

Origin and Destination

To test a specific routing, one has to insert origin and destination. This can be done by inserting latitude and longitude coordinates or the address (then geocoding is used to calculate the coordinates) and the departure day/time.

  • Address search
  • Latitude
  • Longitude
  • Heading at origin/destination (°). The orientation of the vehicle at the origin or destination. This supports and yields more realistic routing results for specific cases, such as one-way streets. Headings are defined as follows: 0° = North, 90° = East, 180° = South, 270° = West.
  • Approach. Defines how a vehicle should access the place. Choose from the following options:
    • Curbside: The vehicle should stop exactly at the curbside.
    • Street (default): The vehicle can stop at any side of the street.

Test routing

Once the required information is input, click Test routing. The routing is then (very coarsely) displayed on the map, and under “Routing result”, Routing distance (in meters) and Routing duration (in seconds) are displayed.

To delete the test routing, click Clear form. The following error messages then appear:

  • Latitude can’t be blank
  • Longitude can’t be blank
  • Latitude can’t be blank
  • Longitude can’t be blank
