Fare adapter configurations

In Control Center, you manage a product’s fare adapter configurations and the pricing elements they contain. For what a fare adapter configuration is, how elements and price types work, and a worked example, see Fare adapter configurations in Platform.

This page is available when a Super Admin has activated Fare adapter configurations for the product. This item appears in the Control Center product sidebar only when the fare adapter configurations product feature is active.

A new configuration—and the choice of which fare adapter it uses—is created by a Super Admin in the Management Area. In Control Center you work from the existing configurations: viewing them, duplicating one as the starting point for the next price period, editing their details, managing their elements, and deleting the ones that were never used.

View fare adapter configurations

No specific permission is required to view the configurations—any administrator with access to the product can open this page.

From the product overview in Control Center, select Fare adapter configurations in the left sidebar. The page lists the product’s configurations, ordered by their start date, and highlights the one that is Active now.

Open a configuration

No specific permission is required—opening a configuration needs only access to the product.

Select a configuration to open it. The detailed view shows its fare adapter, price version, validity window, and its elements. If the configuration is incomplete, warnings list what is missing—elements without a localized name, bookable passenger types that no base price covers, or zone codes that have no mapped base price.

Duplicate a configuration

Permissions: update_product

To prepare a new price period, duplicate an existing configuration and adjust the copy. Duplicating copies the configuration together with its elements, so you start from a working set of prices rather than an empty configuration.

Edit a configuration

Permissions: update_product

Editing a configuration lets you change its name, price version, From and Until dates, and whether it is Enabled. The fare adapter itself is set when the configuration is created and can’t be changed here.

Once a configuration has been used to calculate a real fare, it is locked: only its name can still be changed. This keeps past fares stable. (On non-production environments this restriction is lifted so pricing can be tried out.)

Enable or disable a configuration

Permissions: update_product

You can switch a configuration on or off directly from its actions menu, without opening the edit form. Select Enable to switch a disabled configuration on, or Disable to switch an enabled one off.

  • Enable is available only when the configuration is complete. If it is still missing elements or translations, complete it first.
  • Once a configuration has been used to calculate a real fare, its enabled state is locked and neither action is available. (On non-production environments this restriction is lifted so pricing can be tried out.)

Delete a configuration

Permissions: update_product

A configuration can be deleted while it has never been used for a fare. If any fare was calculated with it, deletion is blocked so historical fares stay intact.

Add an element

Permissions: update_product

Add an element to define a base price, a discount, a surcharge, or a ride option surcharge. Choose the price type, enter a localized name and description, set the amount, and select the passenger types (and, where relevant, the passenger option) the element applies to. The price types offered depend on the configuration’s fare adapter—for example, distance-based base prices for a distance adapter, or zone code base prices for a zone adapter. Remember that a base price is defined for exactly one passenger type, while discounts and surcharges apply to the passenger types you select—or to all passengers when you select none. A ride option surcharge instead applies to a ride option you select. See element price types in Platform.

For a discount or surcharge you also set an order. Elements with the same order are mutually exclusive—only one applies to each passenger—and lower orders are applied first, so give competing discounts the same order and stacking ones different orders. See element order in Platform.

Edit an element

Permissions: update_product

Edit an element to correct its localized names, description, amount, passenger types, or passenger option. As with the configuration, once the configuration has been used for a fare an element is locked to its description and localized names, and elements can no longer be added or removed.

Delete an element

Permissions: update_product

Delete an element to remove that base price, discount, or surcharge from the configuration. This is only possible while the configuration has not yet been used for a fare.
