Passenger options

Passenger options allow users to select one or more options for each passenger when booking a ride. Typical passenger options include a public transport ticket, walker, and wheelchair, and they can be customized for each product.

If a passenger option — for example, wheelchair — is marked as bookable, it will show up as a selectable option during the booking process, regardless of whether any vehicle in the fleet can actually fulfill it.

If no vehicle is configured to support that option, based on the defined vehicle resources, the ride inquiry returns this message: “We are currently unable to provide a vehicle with the requested resources.” This message appears in the Passenger App if you add the wheelchair option to a passenger and then select Confirm.

What is the difference between a passenger option and ride option?

The primary distinction between a ride option and a passenger option lies in their scope. A ride option applies to all passengers in a ride, whereas a passenger option applies to individual passengers. For example, when selecting a ride option such as large baggage, all passengers sharing the ride collectively reserve the corresponding luggage space. By contrast, BahnCard is categorized as a passenger option because it applies per person.

What happens if a passenger option is selected, but no vehicle in the fleet supports it?

If a passenger option — for example, wheelchair — is marked as bookable, it will show up as a selectable option during the booking process, regardless of whether any vehicle in the fleet can actually fulfill it.

The admin procedure is documented in Passenger options in Control Center. In ioki Operator, passenger options are read-only.
