Email sender configuration

Roles: Super Admin

Email settings can be configured per provider. From the provider view in the Management Area, select ⚙️ > Email sender configuration in the dropdown menu.

The following settings can be modified.

  • Email sender name (default = ioki): Name which appears as sender in the outgoing emails.
  • Email sender address (default = no-reply@mail.ioki.com): This can be changed to a custom email sender address only after it has been configured in Spotler SendPro. For more information, refer here.
  • Base URL for landing pages (no stored default): The base URL (host) used to build the links in emails to passengers, such as the email-confirmation link. Only the host portion is configured here; the path—for example /webview/confirm_email/<confirmation_code>—is appended automatically. When left blank, links fall back to the platform’s standard host, so a confirmation link looks like https://app.io.ki/webview/confirm_email/<confirmation_code>.

Configure a base URL for landing pages

It’s possible to configure the base URL of all links sent in emails to passengers. In the production environment, the default URL for the email confirmation link, for example, looks like:

https://app.io.ki/webview/confirm_email/<confirmation_code>

If, for example, a provider does not want to link to the default .ki domain but wants to use its own domain such as shuttle.example.com instead, the following steps have to be performed.

Configure DNS records and web server

The shuttle.example.com domain is outside of ioki’s control. So the technical administrator of the provider has to configure both the A and AAAA records for it.

These records have to point to a web server that is controlled by the provider. We strongly recommend that the web server uses TLS, i.e. that the configured base URL starts with https://.

Configure redirection to ioki servers

The web server has to be configured so that it redirects all requests to shuttle.example.com to https://app.io.ki.

Using Apache’s .htaccess, this could look like:

# .htaccess
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://app.io.ki/$1 [R=301,L]

Control Center

After all this is set up and tested, the new base URL may be configured in Control Center in the provider’s email sender configuration as explained above.

Demo environment

The setup above assumes that the base URL will only be changed in the production system. If the provider wants to test this on Demo, then they need to provide an additional subdomain, for example, demo.shuttle.example.com, and configure that to redirect requests to demo.io.ki.
