Get started
To use ioki Passenger App, you download the product’s branded app, create an account, and grant a few permissions. After that, you can request and book rides.
Install the app
Download the product’s app from the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Each product is published under its own name and icon, so search for the operator’s app rather than a generic “ioki” app.
Create an account
The app registers you with your mobile phone number:
- Enter your phone number.
- Enter the verification code sent to you by SMS.
- Complete your profile with the requested details, such as your name and email address.
If the code doesn’t arrive, you can request a new one after a short countdown. If the app detects unusual activity, it can first ask you to pass a quick security check, such as a captcha, before it sends the verification code.
Depending on the product, you may also need to accept the terms of service and privacy policy, and confirm that you meet a minimum age before you can continue.
Add or confirm your email address
If the product requires an email address, the app prompts you to add and confirm one. An email address is used for receipts, ride-related messages, and account recovery. You can update it later in your account settings.
Grant app permissions
The app asks for a few device permissions when they are first needed:
- Location, so the app can suggest your current position as a start address and show your position on the map.
- Notifications, so the app can send you ride updates such as booking confirmations and pickup reminders.
You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings. If you decline location access, you can still book rides by entering addresses manually.
Choose a service area
If the operator runs more than one service, the app asks you to choose a service area, or selects one automatically based on your location. You can switch the service area later from the app.
Switch environments for testing
You can connect the app to a different environment for testing. For the steps on each platform, see Switch environments.
