Drive and handle tasks

The main workspace combines the map, the current destination list, and the actions for the next task. The exact layout can vary by device, but the same task flow is used throughout the app.

Use the home screen

The home screen includes these main areas:

  • the map for turn-by-turn navigation
  • the active ride card for the next destination
  • the destinations panel with the current and upcoming stops
  • overlays and dialogs for new rides, task completion, notifications, and shift-related actions

On handheld devices, the destinations panel can be opened and closed. The active ride card shows the next stop together with task counts, time, and route distance.

The map provides turn-by-turn navigation to the current destination. It shows the upcoming maneuver with a direction icon and the distance to it, a preview of the following maneuver, the remaining distance, and the estimated arrival time. Maneuver sounds can be turned on or off in the settings.

The route is recalculated automatically when it needs to change—for example, when the task list changes or the vehicle leaves the planned route. While a new route is being calculated, the app shows a short recalculating overlay, and it warns the driver when the vehicle is off route.

Map controls let the driver recenter the map on the current position or switch to a route overview, and the product’s service area can be shown on the map. If the GPS signal becomes inaccurate, the app shows a warning, because accurate positioning is required for navigation and task completion.

See operator announcements

When an operator publishes an in-app banner, the app shows the announcement as a banner on the home screen. A banner targeted at a specific station can also appear as a dialog when a task involves that station.

Review destinations

The destinations panel shows the current destination first and then the remaining destinations in order.

If there is no current booking yet, the panel shows an empty-state message instead of a task list.

Each destination also indicates how on-time it is: the app marks tasks as on time, slightly delayed, or heavily delayed, using color to highlight delays.

Accept pending rides

When a new ride request reaches the vehicle, the app opens a pending-rides dialog and plays an alert sound.

Depending on product configuration:

  • rides can be accepted automatically, or
  • the driver must accept them manually

In the manual flow, the app can show a countdown for the acceptance window. If task rejection is allowed for the product, the same dialog can also offer a reject action.

Start riding

For negotiated starts, the app can open a start-riding dialog with the scheduled time and a five-minute countdown. The dialog appears only when the vehicle has been idle for at least five minutes and the app calculates that it is time to leave for the next destination.

Drivers can also close the dialog manually.

Complete tasks

The active task area uses swipe actions to complete work:

  • pickup tasks use a pickup slider
  • drop-off tasks use a drop-off slider
  • meta tasks such as shift-related waypoints use their own slider text

Depending on product configuration and task timing, the app can require extra confirmation before it completes a task. You can complete a task only after you have accepted it and the shift has started.

Handle pickup tasks

When you complete a pickup task, the app can show additional dialogs before the task is sent as completed:

  • an early-completion confirmation if the task is completed too early
  • a passenger confirmation dialog
  • an in-vehicle payment confirmation if the task requires payment in the vehicle, such as cash payment or card payment in the vehicle. For cash, the driver confirms whether the passenger paid before the pickup is completed.

The pickup slider can also show a verification code and seat usage information for the ride.

Handle drop-off and meta tasks

Drop-off tasks can trigger an early-completion confirmation when needed.

Meta tasks can complete directly, or require an odometer entry for shift-related waypoints when the connected vehicle is configured to show the odometer dialog.

Take a break

If the vehicle planning includes a pause, it appears in the destinations list as a meta task. The driver starts the break by completing the pause task and resumes work by completing the follow-up task when the break ends.

Handle repositioning tasks

A repositioning task directs the driver to move the vehicle to a specific location without a passenger. It is completed like other meta tasks once the driver reaches the location.

Review completed and previous tasks

Inactive tasks stay visible in the destination history with ride details. Depending on the task state, the app can still show ride resource information and actions such as calling a passenger. Passenger complaints are available from previous destinations.
